# Limits and usage

## What a request costs

Every request costs 1 unit, however many rows it returns: a page of 100 posts or statistics for 100 channels is also 1. Free (0 units): `/v1/me/`, the category and territory directories, webhook management. The cost of each method is on its page in the [reference](/en/api/methods/).

## Limit per period

The limit is counted per **30-day period from the plan payment**: paid on Oct 18 — the period runs to Nov 17, then the next one starts. Unused requests do not carry over.

| Plan | Requests per period | Per second | Keys |
|---|---|---|---|
| API.Max Test | 1,000 | 1 | 1 |
| API.Max Start | 100,000 | 5 | 2 |
| API.Max Growth | 300,000 | 10 | 5 |
| API.Max Profi | 1,500,000 | 20 | 20 |

The “Business” (MAX) subscription includes 10,000 requests per period, 5 per second and 2 keys; methods are open as on “API.Max Start”.

## Response headers

- `X-Quota-Limit`, `X-Quota-Remaining` — the period limit and what is left;
- `X-Quota-Reset` — when the next period starts (UTC time, `…Z`);
- `X-RateLimit-Limit`, `X-RateLimit-Remaining` — the per-second rate.

## When the limit runs out

The API responds with code 429. You can buy a pack: 100,000 requests for 30 days, used only after the plan limit. Packs are on the “API keys” page in your account.

!!! note
    Requests without a key or with a wrong key (401), rejected by a limit (429) and failed on our side (500, timeout 503) don’t count toward the limit. Other responses, including 400, 403 and 404, cost as a regular request.
