# How the channel page works

The channel page is the main analytics screen of datool.ru: everything we know about a MAX channel is collected here, from its subscriber count to who cites it. This article covers the parts shared by all tabs: the header with its buttons, the tab bar, period selection, tips, locked blocks and special channel states. Each tab is described in detail in its own article.

## Where to find it

The page address is `https://max.datool.ru/channels/<channel name>/`, for example <https://max.datool.ru/channels/ria/>. The name is the same as in the channel's MAX link (`max.ru/ria`). Channels without a public name use our channel number instead. If a channel changes its name, the old address redirects to the new one.

You can get to the page:

- from the [channel catalog](/en/max/find/) and the search in the site header — click the channel name;
- from [ratings](/en/max/ratings/), [categories](/en/max/categories/) and the [“Today in MAX”](/en/max/today/) page;
- from any post page — via the channel name;
- from the “My MAX” sections — Favorites, Following, My channels.

All tabs with every block unlocked and made-up data are available on the demo page <https://max.datool.ru/demo/> — see [Demo page](/en/max/demo/).

Above the header are breadcrumbs: “Home / Channel catalog / channel name”. Use them to return to the home page or the catalog.

## Channel header

The header is the top card of the page. It is the same on every tab.

![Demo channel header: status, name with the blue badge and the A+ shield, description, categories and territory](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-overview-hero.webp)

### The line above the name

Three small items at the top:

- **Channel status** with a colored dot: “Public channel” (green dot), “Private channel” (joined by invitation), “Group chat”, “Deleted in MAX” or “Unavailable in MAX”.
- **ID** — the channel number in MAX, the same as in the MAX app. On the demo page it says “Demo: made-up data” instead.
- **@channel name**. Clicking it copies the channel's MAX link (`max.ru/name`) and shows “Link copied”. It does not open the channel — use the “Open in MAX” button for that.

### Avatar, name and badges

The channel avatar is on the left. If there is no picture, the first letters of the name are shown.

Two badges can appear next to the name. Hover over a badge (tap it on a phone) to see what it means.

| Badge | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Blue check mark | “Ownership of this channel is verified by datool.ru”: the owner verified the channel through our bot. See [Ownership verification](/en/max/verification/) |
| Green “A+” shield | “The channel is registered with Roskomnadzor”: this is the A+ mark from MAX itself (the channel is in the Roskomnadzor registry). The shield is shown whether or not the channel is verified with us |

### Description, categories and territory

- **Description** — in full, as in MAX, with line breaks and working links. It is hidden for a private channel you have no access to.
- **Categories** — chips with pictures, up to five. The first, filled one is the channel's main category. Clicking a chip opens the category page with all its channels. How categories are assigned is explained in [Categories and territories](/en/metrics/categories/).
- **Territory** — the line with a pin: the region, city or country the channel belongs to, plus a clarification (for example, “Krasnodar Krai · Russia”). Clicking it opens the channels of that territory.

Hover over a category chip (or move to it with the keyboard) to see the category card:

![Category card: how many channels the category has and this channel's rank](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-overview-category-card.webp)

- **Channels in category** — how many catalog channels belong to the category (recounted once a day).
- **This channel's rank** — the rank by subscribers among the category's channels: “No. 3” means only two channels in the category have more subscribers.
- **Open category →** — goes to the category page.

## Header buttons

Below the categories is a row of buttons. The screenshot shows a real channel's header as a guest (not signed in) sees it:

![Channel header buttons as a guest sees them; the numbers mark the channel name and five buttons](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-overview-hero-buttons.webp)

1. **@channel name** — copies the channel's MAX link.
2. **Share** (three-dot icon). Opens a menu: “VKontakte”, “Telegram”, “Odnoklassniki” and “Copy link”. What gets shared is the link to the channel page on datool.ru with the channel name.
3. **Favorites** (star). Once you are signed in, it adds the channel to your organization's Favorites, where it is easy to follow its numbers (see [Favorites](/en/my/favorites/)); clicking again removes it. A filled star means the channel is already in Favorites. If your plan has no free Favorites slots left, the Favorites page opens with a limit message and a “Buy more channels” button. For a guest, the star opens a “Follow the channel in your account” window with “Sign up” and “Not now” buttons; after signing up you return to the same page.
4. **Open in MAX** — opens the channel in MAX in a new tab. There is no button for a private channel you have no access to.
5. **Download report** — a PDF report of the channel dashboard for the last 30 days. Details below.
6. **I own this channel** — confirms the channel is yours. Details below.

![The Favorites window for a guest: sign up to follow the channel](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-overview-favorite-dialog.webp)

### Download report

The button builds a PDF file with the channel dashboard for 30 days: key numbers, audience growth, views and reach, engagement, the quality index, formats and top posts. Only blocks open to your plan go into the report.

- The report is available with the “Premium” subscription (1 report per billing period) and “Business” (30 reports). A billing period is 30 days from the subscription payment, not a calendar month.
- With “Business”, the report header carries your organization's logo; otherwise it has the datool.ru logo.
- If your organization bought a report pack, the button works on any plan, including the free one.
- Downloading the same report again (same channel and same dates) is free and does not use up the limit.
- If the report is not available to you, the button shows a lock and leads to the plans page.

There is no button on the demo page or for channels a report cannot be built for: deleted, unavailable, group chats and channels whose first data we are still collecting. All of your organization's reports are on the [Reports and exports](/en/my/reports/) page.

### I own this channel

If the channel is yours, verify it: you will get free access to the part of the analytics that is locked for others (such blocks are marked “Free for the channel owner once the channel is verified”), and the channel's statistics will update more often. What a person sees after clicking the button:

| Who clicks | What opens |
|---|---|
| Guest | The “Verify your channel” window with a “Sign in or sign up” button |
| Signed-in user | A window with an explanation and a “Confirm through the bot” button: add the datool.ru bot as a channel administrator and send it a one-time code |
| Owner of a verified channel | The button is called “Edit channel” (with a pencil) and opens the “Categories and territory” window: the main and additional categories and the territory can be corrected right there. Automatic labeling will not override your choice |
| Member of the owner organization, if the channel is assigned to it but not verified via the bot | The “You own this channel” button and a “Channel verified” window with an “Open “My channels”” link |

![The “Verify your channel” window a guest sees](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-overview-owner-dialog.webp)

If another organization has already verified the channel, there is no button. If you think this is a mistake, write to us via “Report an inaccuracy” — support will look into it. Group chats have no button at all. Step-by-step instructions: [Ownership verification](/en/max/verification/).

## Tabs

Under the header is the tab bar. Each tab is a separate analytics section:

| Tab | What it has | Article |
|---|---|---|
| Dashboard | Key channel numbers, growth, reach, indexes — opens first | [Dashboard](/en/channel/dashboard/) |
| All posts | The post feed with search, sorting, export and period totals | [All posts](/en/channel/posts/) |
| Audience analysis | Subscriber growth, subscribes and unsubscribes, retention, live share | [Audience analysis](/en/channel/audience/) |
| Mentions | Who cites the channel, the citation index, mention exchange | [Mentions](/en/channel/mentions/) |
| Popular | Top posts and what they have in common | [Popular](/en/channel/popular/) |
| Post reach | How many people see the posts and what it depends on | [Post reach](/en/channel/reach/) |
| Posting schedule | When and how often the channel posts | [Posting schedule](/en/channel/graph/) |
| Ad statistics | Ads in the channel, advertisers, price estimate | [Ad statistics](/en/channel/ads/) |
| Similar channels | Competitors and the channel's place among them | [Similar channels](/en/channel/similar/) |
| Subscriber engagement | Reactions, their mood and what engages people | [Engagement](/en/channel/engagement/) |

On a computer the first four tabs are always visible. The rest are shown as far as the width allows, and the ones that do not fit are hidden in the **“More”** menu. A tab chosen from the menu moves into the bar in front of “More”. On tablets and phones the bar scrolls sideways, with arrows at the edges.

![The tab bar with the “More” menu open](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-overview-tabs.webp)

All tabs except Dashboard and All posts load when you open them: while they are being calculated, the tab shows “Loading…”. For large channels the first calculation can take a few seconds.

### A direct link to a tab

When you switch tabs, the tab code is added to the page address after a `#` sign, for example `https://max.datool.ru/channels/ria/#graph`. You can copy such a link and send it to a colleague — the page will open right on that tab.

| Tab | Address ending |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | no ending (opens by default) |
| All posts | `#posts` |
| Audience analysis | `#audience` |
| Mentions | `#mentions` |
| Popular | `#popular` |
| Post reach | `#reach` |
| Posting schedule | `#graph` |
| Ad statistics | `#ads` |
| Similar channels | `#similar` |
| Subscriber engagement | `#engagement` |

The selected period goes into the address too (for example, `?range=month` on the dashboard), so the link keeps the period as well.

## Choosing a period

Every tab with charts has a header at the top: the title, the date range in words (“12 October — 18 October 2026”) and a row of periods: **7 days · 30 days · 90 days · Year · All time · Custom dates**. Clicking a period recalculates the whole tab right away; there is no “Apply” button. As you scroll down, the header with the periods stays pinned to the top of the screen, so you can change the period from anywhere.

![A guest's period row: only 7 days is open, other periods show a lock](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-overview-periods.webp)

- Every tab opens on **7 days**. The exception is the demo page, where tabs open on 30 days.
- **All time** starts with the first day we have data for the channel. We collect posts for the channel's entire history, but MAX does not report past subscriber counts: subscriber history begins with the first day we started observing the channel, not with its creation.
- **Custom dates** is a calendar: pick the start and end of the period in one window, then “Apply”.

Who can use which periods on the Dashboard, Audience analysis and Mentions tabs:

| Period | Guest | Free account | Channel owner | “Premium” and “Business” |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7 days | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
| 30 days | — | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
| 90 days, Year, All time | — | — | ✅ | ✅ |
| Custom dates | — | — | — | ✅ |

A locked period shows a lock: clicking it leads to sign-up (if the period opens for free after signing in) or to the plans page. The All posts tab has its own period row and its own rules — see [All posts](/en/channel/posts/).

### How to read time charts

- **The chart step** depends on the period: 7 and 30 days — one point per day, 90 days — per week (starting Monday), year and all time — per month. For custom dates: up to 31 days — days, up to 120 days — weeks, longer — months.
- **Comparison with the previous period.** The badge with an arrow next to a number is the change versus a period of the same length right before the selected one (for 7 days — versus the previous 7 days). Green means better, red means worse, gray “no change” means the difference is negligible. Totals (posts, views, reactions) are compared as a per-day average: the current period has not ended yet, and otherwise any total would look smaller in the morning. All time has no comparison. There is also no comparison if we have no statistics for the previous period.
- **Dashes and hollow circles** on reach and ERR charts mark points with posts younger than two days: their views are still growing and the value will be higher. More in [Key metrics](/en/metrics/basics/).
- **Blocks based on posts themselves** (top posts, formats, posting time, ads) look back no more than 365 days. With “All time” they are labeled “for the last 12 months”.

## “i” tips

Every block heading and every number tile has an **“i”** icon. Hover over it, move to it with the keyboard or tap it (on a phone) to see an explanation: what the block shows and how it is calculated.

![The “i” tip on the Audience growth block](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-overview-help.webp)

Hover over a point, bar or cell of a chart to see a tip with the exact numbers and the date of that point (a day — “5 Oct 2026”, a week — “23 – 29 Mar 2026”, a month — “March 2026”). The keyboard arrows work too.

### Zooming charts

Dense charts can be zoomed. On the dashboard, the “Every post is a dot” block has **“+”** and **“−”** buttons (zoom in and out by a factor of two) and **“Whole period”**; you can also pinch on a touchpad or phone or use the mouse wheel while holding Ctrl (⌘ on a Mac). A zoomed chart can be dragged sideways. On other tabs, wide charts have “−”, “×1” (back to normal size) and “+” buttons.

## Locked blocks

We do not hide what is locked: in place of a block that is not available to you yet there is a **blurred example** — the same block on made-up data — with a lock badge on top:

- **“Available after signing in”** — the block opens for free; you just need to sign up and sign in. Clicking leads to sign-in.
- **“Available with a subscription”** — the block opens with the “Premium” or “Business” subscription. Clicking leads to the plans page.

![The locked “When and how much it posts” block: a blurred example and an “Available with a subscription” badge](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-overview-locked-subscription.webp)

![The locked “Post formats” block: an “Available after signing in” badge](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-overview-locked-signup.webp)

If the badge has the line **“Free for the channel owner once the channel is verified”** under it, the block opens for the owner without a subscription as soon as they verify the channel via the bot.

![A locked block with the line “Free for the channel owner once the channel is verified”](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-overview-locked-owner.webp)

!!! note "The numbers under the blur are not real"
The blur always hides made-up data: the real numbers of a locked block are not on the page at all. Do not try to guess the channel's figures from them.

There is a third kind of badge — **“Available once the channel is verified via the bot”** with the note “MAX gives the subscriber list only to the channel's admin bot”. It appears on Audience analysis blocks built from the subscriber list: nobody has that data until the owner verifies the channel, and a subscription will not unlock it.

Who sees what at each access level is described in the article on [access levels](/en/start/access/), and each tab's article has a “Block | What it shows | Who can see it” table.

## Special page states

Sometimes the page shows a single card with an explanation instead of tabs. There are no numbers in it: we do not replace unknown values with zeros.

| State | What you see and why |
|---|---|
| Group chat | “This is a group chat”. We do not collect chat messages — neither texts nor authors. Only the card is shown: the number of members and the date the chat appeared in the catalog |
| Private channel | “This is a private channel”. Posts are available to members by invitation; without verified access we do not show texts, views or reactions. The owner can connect the bot — the “Verify ownership” button |
| Deleted in MAX | “The channel was deleted in MAX”. Statistics updates have stopped; numbers and posts are not shown |
| Unavailable in MAX | “The channel is currently unavailable in MAX”. MAX does not return the channel's data; we keep checking it, and if it becomes available again, the page will update by itself |
| Collecting the first data | The channel was just added. Numbers will appear once the first posts are processed — come back later or click “Refresh the page” |
| No posts | “The channel has no posts yet”. Views, reactions and engagement will appear after the first posts |
| Channel not found | There is no channel with this address in the catalog. Check the link or find the channel by name; if we do not have it, [add the channel](/en/max/add-channel/) |

The state card has a “To the channel catalog” button, and most states also have a “Report an inaccuracy” link.

## Report an inaccuracy

If you spot a mistake — a wrong category or territory, someone else listed as owner, or strange numbers — let us know. The **“Report an inaccuracy”** link is on every post in the All posts feed, on the post page and in the special-state card of a channel. It opens a request window with the channel or post already filled in; describe what is wrong and send it. Support will reply — you can follow your requests in [Support](/en/cabinet/support/).

## When the data is updated

At the bottom of the dashboard there is a line **“Data updated at HH:MM Moscow time”**: the time the tab's numbers were calculated for. We regularly read all public MAX channels: large channels more often, small ones less often, owner-verified ones more often than the rest. Finished tab calculations are kept for a few minutes (up to an hour for long periods), so a new number may not appear immediately.

![The “Data updated at …” line at the bottom of the dashboard](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-overview-updated.webp)

All times on the site are Moscow time.

!!! note "What the page does not and will not have"
Post comments, forwards to private chats, and subscribers' gender, age and city are not provided by MAX — this data is not available on any plan. We never collect private conversations or group chat messages.
