# Post reach

The **Post reach** tab answers the question "how many people will see a post in this channel". It shows the reach of a regular post, the share of subscribers who see it, how reach changes by day, by posting time and by format, and how the channel compares with similar ones.

## Where to find it

Open a channel page on <https://max.datool.ru/> and pick the **Post reach** tab (if you don't see it, look in the **More** menu). A direct link is the channel address with `#reach`, for example <https://max.datool.ru/demo/#reach> (the demo channel: invented data, every block open).

![The Post reach tab: the row of tabs, the period and the key numbers](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-reach-overview.webp)

## What reach means here

**Post reach** is its current view count. MAX doesn't tell how many views a post got in its first day, so:

- the median, ERR, comparisons and every "×N vs median" are calculated only from **mature posts older than 48 hours** — fresh posts are still gaining views and would drag everything down;
- daily views and "Total views" use all posts; days with fresh posts are pale and dashed on the charts ("still gaining");
- posts for which MAX gave no view count are not counted.

Key concepts:

- **Median reach** — the tab's main figure: half the posts got less, half got more. Single "viral" posts pull the average up, so the average is a separate tile.
- **ERR** — median reach ÷ subscribers: the share of subscribers who see a regular post.
- **Spread** — P90 ÷ P10: how many times a strong post of the channel (better than 90% of posts) beats a weak one (better than only 10%).

More in [Key metrics](/en/metrics/basics/) and [Where the data comes from](/en/metrics/data/).

## Period

The period row at the top of the tab: **7 days**, **30 days**, **90 days**, **Year**, **All time**, **Custom dates**. Guests get 7 days, signed-in users (free) get up to 30 days, the channel owner and subscribers get every period; **Custom dates** is available with a Premium or Business subscription. The window is at most 365 days — "All time" is labelled "no more than a year back". Charts go by day up to 92 days, by week up to 183, and by month for longer periods. The previous period used for comparison has the same length and comes right before the selected one ("All time" has none). Common elements are described in [How the channel page works](/en/channel/overview/).

### Key reach numbers

Six tiles with mini charts.

![Key reach numbers: median, ERR, views, posts, average reach, spread](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-reach-tiles.webp)

- **Median post reach** — the reach of a regular post.
- **ERR — subscribers who see it** — the share of subscribers who see a regular post; under the number the same in words ("every 4th subscriber sees a post"). The change is in percentage points.
- **Total views** — for all posts of the period.
- **Posts** — how many came out and the average per day.
- **Average reach** — and how much higher than the median it is ("pulled up by posts that took off").
- **Reach spread** — P90 ÷ P10. For spread, lower is better, so a decrease is shown in green.

**How to read it.** Under the number is the value for the previous period of the same length; the badge is the difference; the mini chart is the same figure by day (by week or month for long periods). Views and post counts are compared as a daily average, because the current period hasn't ended yet. Points with fresh posts are drawn dashed with a hollow circle.

**Example.** ERR 23% means almost every fourth subscriber sees a regular post. 20% or more is good reach; 10% or less is weak.

**Who can see it:** everyone; the "Average reach" and "Reach spread" tiles — after signing in (free).

### Views and post reach by day

Bars are all views of the posts published that day (left scale): the more posts, the taller the bar. The line is the median reach of that day's posts (right scale): it doesn't depend on the number of posts. Pale dashed bars are days with fresh posts whose views are still growing.

![Views and post reach by day: bars and a median line on two scales](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-reach-days.webp)

Under the chart — total views for the period, the day with the most views and the day with the highest post reach.

**Example.** If the bars grow while the line stays flat, the channel simply started publishing more posts, while each post gets the same as before.

**Who can see it:** everyone.

### Subscribers and post reach

Two lines on one scale: subscribers at the end of the day and the median reach of that day's posts. The shaded gap between them is the subscribers a regular post didn't reach (labelled "don't see it — 78%").

![Subscribers and post reach: the gap between the lines is those who didn't see the post](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-reach-subs.webp)

Below — the best and weakest day by ERR, the change in subscribers over the period and the change in median reach against the previous period. We have been collecting daily subscriber counts since 29 September 2026, so earlier periods have no subscriber line. If reach exceeds the subscriber count, the "don't see it" label is not shown.

**Example.** Subscribers grew by 4% while median reach grew by 12% — the new subscribers are active, or posts are spreading beyond the channel more often.

**Who can see it:** after signing in (free).

### Every post against the channel's norm

A dot is a post: horizontally — publication time, vertically — views. The band is the **norm corridor**: the middle half of posts (from P25 to P75) for that day and neighbouring days; the dashed line is the median. Above the corridor — purple dots, below — grey, inside — pale blue; hollow circles are posts under two days old.

![Every post against the channel's norm: dots and the norm corridor](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-reach-corridor.webp)

**How to use it.**

1. Hover over a dot to see the date and views; click it to open the post page.
2. The **−** and **+** buttons above the chart stretch it horizontally (up to ×8) so you can examine dense areas; a wide chart scrolls sideways. Ctrl + mouse wheel does the same.

The scale is linear, not logarithmic; posts above it are drawn as an arrow with a number at the top edge. A large channel shows at most 1,500 dots: the 100 best and an even sample of the rest.

**Example.** If purple dots cluster on certain days of the week, the channel has "strong" days.

**Who can see it:** everyone.

### If the channel publishes 10 posts

Ten figures — the period's mature posts split into ten equal parts from weakest to strongest; the number under each figure is the typical reach of its part. A flop is at most half the median, a post that takes off is at least two medians. The summary reads like "1 will flop, 8 will get usual reach, 1 will take off".

![If the channel publishes 10 posts: how many will flop and how many will take off](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-reach-ten.webp)

Below — the reach spread and, if the "Reach among similar channels" block is open to you, the median spread of similar channels.

**Example for an advertiser.** If two or three out of ten posts flop, plan for reach below the median.

**Who can see it:** everyone.

### Best time to post

The day is split into slots, Moscow time: 0–7, 7–10, 10–13, 13–16, 16–19, 19–22, 22–24. Each slot shows the median reach of its posts against the median of all posts. The block names the best slot, the backup slot and the weakest slot, plus the strongest and weakest day of the week. The bar at the bottom is the day: the more saturated the colour, the stronger the slot.

![Best time to post: the best, backup and weakest time slot](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-reach-time.webp)

Slots and days with fewer than 5 posts don't take part. If the best slot beats the norm by less than 5%, the block says posting time barely affects reach.

**Example.** "Best in the evening, 19–22: a post gets +25% vs usual" — an ad post is better placed in the evening.

**Who can see it:** after signing in (free).

### Post reach by publishing hour

24 bars — the median reach of posts published in each hour. The dashed line is the median of all posts. Purple bars are above the norm, grey below, pale bars have fewer than 5 posts (the number is random). Under the chart — the three best hours.

![Post reach by publishing hour: 24 bars and a dashed regular-post line](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-reach-hours.webp)

**Who can see it:** after signing in (free).

### Best and weakest posts

Two columns: **Got the most** and **Got the least** — five mature posts each. Each post has a title (the first line of text) linking to the post page, format, date and time, an "ads" tag if it is an ad, and "×N" — how many times its reach is above or below the channel's median.

**Example.** If the weakest posts include many ads, the audience scrolls past them — you can also see this on the [Ad statistics](/en/channel/ads/) tab.

**Who can see it:** after signing in (free).

### Which format gets more

A card for each format: video, photo, text, links, reposts (the format is determined by attachments). In large type — the format's median reach divided by the median of all posts; the badge is the difference. The chart shows how many posts of the format got how many views (the scale is shared by all formats and logarithmic); the line is the format's median. The bar is the format's share of the channel's posts. Arrows at the sides scroll through formats. Fewer than 5 posts — "not enough data".

**Example.** Video gets ×1.4 against a regular post but makes up 19% of posts: the channel underuses its strongest format.

**Who can see it:** with a Premium or Business subscription.

### How much a post will get

An "Any post" row and a row per format: the bar is the middle half of the format's posts (from P25 to P75), the line is the median, on the right — "×N vs usual".

![How much a post will get: expected reach by format](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-reach-forecast.webp)

**Example.** "Video: 10.7–19.6K" — a new video post will most likely get between 10.7 and 19.6 thousand views.

!!! note
This is an estimate based on the period's past posts, not a promise.

**Who can see it:** with a Premium or Business subscription.

### How much to publish

The period's days with posts are split into groups by posts per day (up to four groups; the boundaries are specific to each channel). Each group shows post reach (median) and average views per day. **Now** is the group with the channel's usual number of posts; **Recommended** is the most frequent group where post reach is no more than 10% below the best group. If the "Reach among similar channels" block is open to you, the posting frequency of similar channels is shown too.

![How much to publish: now and the recommendation](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-reach-freq.webp)

At least 10 days with posts and at least two groups are needed, so for the 7-day period the block is usually empty.

**Example.** "Recommended ≤ 14 posts a day: post reach −2%, views per day +51%" — the channel can post more often with almost no loss of reach per post.

**Who can see it:** with a Premium or Business subscription.

### Reach through reposts

The channel's posts that other public channels reposted. Two rows: **Views through reposts** (this and the previous period) and **Bonus to own views** — repost views ÷ views of the channel's own posts. Below — which is growing faster, and the number of reposts.

Repost views were collected in other channels' feeds and are not part of the channel's post reach. "All time" has no previous period. For very large channels the calculation sometimes doesn't finish in time — then the block says it hasn't been calculated.

**Example.** "Bonus +6.1%" — reposts add roughly another 6% to the channel's own views.

**Who can see it:** with a Premium or Business subscription.

### Reach among similar channels

A table: the channel and up to 10 of the most similar channels (picked on the [Similar channels](/en/channel/similar/) tab). Subscribers are under the channel name; the columns are median reach, ERR, posts per day, spread and the change in median against the previous period; the median of similar channels is at the bottom. The channel's row is highlighted.

![Reach among similar channels: the channel's place by median reach](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-reach-similar.webp)

The comparison covers the last 30 days of the selected period. Channels that have become private or been deleted are filtered out.

**Example.** "The channel is No. 8 of 11 by median post reach", but its spread is lower than that of similar channels — a post here gets less, but predictably.

**Who can see it:** for the channel owner and with a Premium or Business subscription.

### Conclusions in numbers

Conclusion cards, each with a small chart: ERR (20% or more is good, 10% or less is weak), median against the previous period (under ±3% means "holding steady"), spread (up to 3 is even, over 6 is very uneven), ad post vs regular post, best time, the strongest format, how much to publish, place among similar channels. The colour of the strip is the rating: green — good, yellow — average, red — weak. Arrows scroll through the cards.

![Conclusions in numbers: cards with ratings](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/channel-reach-words.webp)

A conclusion is built only from blocks and tiles open to you — otherwise a sentence would reveal a locked number. These are rules, not AI.
