# MAX statistics

“MAX statistics” is one large page about the MAX messenger as a whole: how many channels and subscribers there are in the public part of MAX, how much is posted and read, which categories are larger, when channels post, how readers react, what share of the audience sees a post and who grows fastest. The page is open to everyone, without signing in.

Where to find it: [https://max.datool.ru/stats/](https://max.datool.ru/stats/) — the “Statistics” menu item, the “MAX statistics” quick link and the card at the bottom of the home page.

![The “MAX statistics” page: section tabs and the first blocks](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats.webp)

## How the page works

- **Section tabs** under the heading — “Overview”, “Categories”, “Rhythm”, “Engagement”, “Audience and reach”, “Leaders”, “MAX growth”. These are not separate pages: a click scrolls to the section, and the tab of the section on screen is highlighted.
- **Cards** look like those on the channel dashboard: a small label, a title and an “i” icon explaining how the block is calculated. Hover over a bar, point or cell of a chart to see exact numbers.
- **You do not choose a period**: every block has its own window, stated in its “i” note. The main windows are:
    - **28 full days** up to yesterday — the by-day charts;
    - **a week** — seven days that ended the day before yesterday: views of these posts are almost complete, so “views per post” is not understated by fresh posts;
    - **now** — what belongs to the channels themselves (number of channels, subscribers, quality index).
- **Updated once an hour.** The bottom of the page says when it was calculated and which dates make up the week. Reactions, formats and text length are calculated from a sample of posts published during one hour two days earlier, and are recalculated once a day. Until the calculation is ready, the page says that statistics are being calculated in the background.
- Only public MAX channels collected by datool.ru are counted.

## Overview

### Key numbers

![The “Key numbers” card: six tiles with mini charts](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-overview.webp)

| Tile | Number | Chart under the number |
|---|---|---|
| Channels | active public channels | bars — channels found per day; caption “found this week” |
| Subscribers | total subscribers of all channels | bar “grew / unchanged / shrank” — shares of channels over the week; caption — weekly gain |
| Posts collected | all collected posts | wave — posts per day; caption — this week |
| Views | total views of the collected posts | lollipops — views by week |
| Reactions | total reactions | bar of reaction moods (approval, laughter, surprise, sympathy, negative) |
| Posted this week | channels that published at least one post in 7 days | rings — share of channels that posted in a day, a week and a month |

### Posts by day and How often channels post

![“Posts by day” with the measure switch and “How often channels post” with rings](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-days.webp)

- **“Posts by day”** — 28 full days, one bar per day, the record is labelled. The buttons above the chart switch the measure: “Posts”, “Views” (views of that day’s posts), “Reactions”, “Channels posting”, “Ads” (ad posts). One scale per chart.
- **“How often channels post”** — what share of active channels published at least one post in a day, 7 days and 30 days. Example: “20 % — posted in a day” means one channel in five posts at least once a day.

## Categories

### All categories

![The “All categories” table with a coloured bar in every column](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-categories.webp)

A table of all categories by the channel’s main category. Above the table: how many channels are classified and how many posts and views there were this week.

| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Channels | channels whose main category this is |
| Subscribers | the sum of their subscribers |
| Posted this week | share of the category’s channels that posted this week (the bar is out of 100 %) |
| Posts, Views | posts and their views this week |
| Per post | average views of one post |
| Reactions per 1,000 | reactions per thousand views — how actively readers react |
| Ads | share of ad posts |

Each column has its own coloured bar: its length is relative to the largest category in that column. Click a column header to sort by it. The first 15 rows are shown; the “Show all 66” button expands the rest (and collapses back to 15).

### Largest categories and Most ads

![“Largest categories” with the measure switch and “Most ads”](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-top.webp)

- **“Largest categories”** — the 12 largest categories by the chosen measure: channels, subscribers, posts this week or views this week. On the right — the number and the share of all classified channels.
- **“Most ads”** — categories with the highest share of ad posts this week (among categories with at least 1,000 posts this week).

### Few channels, many views

![“Few channels, many views”: share of channels against share of views](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-vs-views.webp)

The twelve categories with the most views this week. On the left — what share of classified channels belongs to the category, on the right — what share of all the week’s views it gets. If the right bar is longer than the left one, the category’s posts are read more than average. Example: news and media have 1.5 % of channels but a third of all views.

## Rhythm

![The “When MAX posts” map: weekdays in rows, hours in columns](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-rhythm.webp)

- **“When MAX posts”** — how many posts were published in each hour of each weekday (Moscow time). The darker the cell, the more posts. Hover over a cell to see posts, views per post and ad share for that hour. Above the map — the hours when posts get the most views.

![“Best time to post”, “Weekdays and weekends”, “When ads go out”](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-rhythm-row.webp)

- **“Best time to post”** — average views of a post depending on the hour it was published; the best hour is labelled. It helps you choose the time for your own post.
- **“Weekdays and weekends”** — average posts per hour on a weekday (blue line) and at the weekend (orange line).
- **“When ads go out”** — what share of each hour’s posts are ads.

## Engagement

![“Reaction mood” with the most frequent emoji and “Post formats”](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-engagement.webp)

- **“Reaction mood”** — emoji reactions grouped by mood, as on the channel “Engagement” tab: approval, laughter, surprise, sympathy, negative; below — the most frequent emoji with their share.
- **“Post formats”** — what the MAX feed is made of: reposts, videos, photos, links, text. A post has one format by priority (repost → video → photo → link → text). The bar is the share of posts, on the right — average views of a post in that format.

![“Text length”, “Reactions per 1,000 views”, “Ads and regular posts”](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-engagement-row.webp)

- **“Text length”** — what share of posts has which length: no text, up to 200, 200–600, 600–1,500 and over 1,500 characters.
- **“Reactions per 1,000 views”** — for channels of different sizes (subscriber tiers: up to 100, 100–1K, 1–10K, 10–100K, 0.1–1M, over 1M). Usually the smaller the channel, the more actively its readers react.
- **“Ads and regular posts”** — views per post and reactions per 1,000 views for ad and regular posts; below — how many times less often readers react to ads.

“Reaction mood”, “Post formats” and “Text length” are calculated from a sample: posts of one hour two days earlier, recalculated once a day. The sample size is given in the “i” note.

## Audience and reach

![“Many channels, few subscribers” and the “Quality index” distribution](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-audience.webp)

- **“Many channels, few subscribers”** — channels are split into tiers by number of subscribers. On the left — what share of all channels is in the tier, on the right — what share of all subscribers they have. For example, two thirds of channels have up to 100 subscribers but only a few percent of the whole audience. Below — how many channels hide their subscriber count.
- **“Quality index”** — how many channels fall into each range of the [quality index](/en/metrics/quality-index/) (0–9, 10–19 … 90–100). The index is recalculated every night.

![“Views per post”, “What share of subscribers sees a post”, “QI by channel size”](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-reach.webp)

- **“Views per post”** — average post views for channels of each tier. The bar height is logarithmic — otherwise small channels would be invisible.
- **“What share of subscribers sees a post”** — post views divided by the average number of subscribers in the tier. Example: “30 %” for 10–100K channels means a post of such a channel is seen by about a third of its subscribers. Compare with your channel — this is the reach (ERR) on its [dashboard](/en/channel/dashboard/).
- **“QI by channel size”** — the average quality index of channels in each tier.

![“Posts per channel per week” and “MAX channels” with labels](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-marks.webp)

- **“Posts per channel per week”** — how many posts a channel of each tier publishes per week on average (among channels that posted). The orange top of the bar is the ad share.
- **“MAX channels”** — labels: active channels, channels with the A+ label from the Roskomnadzor register, pages verified by owners, public group chats (we have only their card) and channels without a category yet.

## Leaders

![“How channels changed over the week” and “New channels in the database”](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-leaders.webp)

- **“How channels changed over the week”** — how many subscribers all channels gained together and what share of channels grew, stayed unchanged (change under 1 %) or shrank. Below — how many subscribers the shrinking channels lost and the growing ones gained. Yesterday is compared with the same day a week earlier.
- **“New channels in the database”** — how many channels datool.ru found for the first time each day; the record is labelled.

![Three leader lists: most new subscribers, fastest in percent, citation index](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-tops.webp)

- **“Most new subscribers”** — weekly gain for channels that had at least 1,000 subscribers a week ago.
- **“Fastest in percent”** — weekly growth in percent for channels that had at least 5,000 subscribers a week ago.
- **“Citation index”** — 10 channels that other MAX channels mention most often and most widely over the last 30 days (excluding ad posts); under the title — how many channels cite it and how many mentions in total. The full list is the [mentions rating](/en/max/ratings/).

## MAX growth

![“New channels by month” and “Total channels” as a running total](https://media.datool.ru/docs/guide/en/max-stats-growth.webp)

- **“New channels by month”** — how many active channels started posting in each month (by the date of the earliest post we have collected). Above the chart — how many channels over how many months and the record month.
- **“Total channels”** — the same as a running total: how many channels had posted by the end of each month.

!!! note
We are still loading the history of old posts, so some channels will move to earlier months over time and the early bars will grow.
