Sign-up and sign-in

One datool.ru account works across everything: the MAX showcase, your account area, the API and the documentation. Signing up is free and opens part of the analytics that guests do not see. This article covers every step: signing up with email, confirming the address, signing in with a password or another service, recovering a password and signing out.

Where to find it

• Sign in — hi.datool.ru/accounts/login/.
• Sign up — hi.datool.ru/accounts/signup/.
• From any showcase page: click “Sign in” in the top right corner and choose “Sign in” or “Sign up”. Locked blocks labelled “Available after signing in” also lead to the sign-in page.

Sign-in and sign-up are two tabs of one card: switch between them with the “Sign in” and “Sign up” tabs at the top. After signing in you return to the page you came from.

Signing up with email

1. Email — an address you have access to: the confirmation email goes there, and later receipts, notifications and password recovery links. One address — one account.
2. Password — at least 8 characters. The site does not accept passwords that are too simple: digits only, common ones (“12345678”, “password”) or similar to your email address.
3. Repeat password — the same password again, to avoid typos. The eye icon in the field shows what you typed.

4. Two required checkboxes:

   • “I consent to the processing of my personal data”;
   • “I accept the terms of the public offer”.

   The links open, in a new tab, exactly the version of the document that is in force now — what you have typed in the form will not be lost.

5. Click “Sign up”.

Sometimes an “I'm not a robot” check (Yandex SmartCaptcha) appears above the button — complete it; it protects against automated sign-ups.

Confirming your email

After signing up you see the “Check your email” page: an email with a link has been sent from datool.ru.

1. Open the email and click the link. It may take a few minutes to arrive; if it is not in your inbox, check the spam folder.
2. The “Confirm your email” page opens with your address. Click “Confirm email”.
3. Done: you are signed in right away, no need to enter the password again.

You cannot sign in without confirming your email — this way emails and notifications never go to someone else's address.

The email did not arrive. The “Check your email” page has a “Send the email again” button. A repeat email is sent no more than once every 3 minutes — if you click earlier, the page asks you to wait. Mistyped the address — click “Back to sign-up” and sign up with the correct one.

“This link is no longer valid”. The link in the email works for 3 days and only once. If it has expired or has already been used, sign in with your password: if your email is not confirmed yet, we will send a new email. You can also click “Request a new email” right away.

Signing in with email or username

1. Email or username — enter either your email address or your username.
2. Password.
3. “Remember me” — tick it on your own computer: you stay signed in for two weeks. Without it you are signed out when you close the browser. Do not tick it on a shared computer.
4. “Forgot your password?” — password recovery (below).
5. Buttons of other services — signing in with Yandex or MAX (below).

Click “Sign in”. If the email or password does not match, an error message appears above the button.

Signing in with other services

Below the form there are “Yandex” and “MAX” buttons. They work for both signing in and signing up.

Yandex ID

1. Click “Yandex” — the Yandex page opens.
2. Allow the sign-in. Yandex only tells us who you are; we do nothing on your behalf.
3. If this is your first time, finish signing up (below). If Yandex is already linked to your account, you are signed in right away.

If you cancel on the Yandex side, the site shows “Sign-in cancelled”, and on a failure — “Sign-in failed”. In both cases access to your account does not change — click “Choose a sign-in method” and try again.

MAX

MAX has no usual “sign in with” flow, so signing in goes through the datool.ru bot in the messenger. We neither ask for nor receive your phone number — only your name and @handle in MAX.

1. Click “MAX” on the sign-in or sign-up page — the “Sign in with MAX” page opens.
2. Open the bot in one of these ways:
   • scan the QR code with the camera of the phone where MAX is installed;
   • click “Open the bot in MAX” if MAX is installed on this device;
   • the bot did not open — find the bot in MAX by the @handle shown on the page and send it the 6-digit code shown next to it.
3. The bot sends a sign-in question with the browser name and time. Click “Confirm sign-in”. If it was not you — click “It wasn't me”, and the sign-in is declined.
4. Return to the sign-in page — it notices the confirmation on its own and opens the site. The status is shown at the bottom: “Waiting for confirmation in MAX…”, “Sign-in confirmed, opening the website…” or “Sign-in was declined in MAX”.

Finishing sign-up via Yandex or MAX

When you sign in with a service for the first time, the “Finish signing up” page opens:

1. Email — if the service did not pass it (MAX never does), enter an address you have access to: it is needed for account recovery and important notifications.
2. Two required checkboxes — consent to personal data processing and the public offer terms, as with regular sign-up.
3. Click “Continue”. If you typed the email yourself, it has to be confirmed by email, just like a regular sign-up.

If the address is already registered, the page suggests you sign in to your existing account. We never sign you into someone else's account just because the email matches: a sign-in service may pass an unconfirmed address. To sign into your account with Yandex or MAX, sign in with your password and connect the service in your account: “Profile and sign-in” → “Connect” (details — Profile and sign-in).

Recovering a password

1. On the sign-in page click “Forgot your password?”.
2. Enter your account email and click “Send link”. An “I'm not a robot” check may appear.
3. The page replies “Check your email”. The email only arrives if an account with that address exists — the page does not reveal who is registered with us.
4. Open the link from the email, enter the new password twice on the “New password” page (at least 8 characters) and click “Save password”.
5. You see “Password changed” — click “Sign in” and sign in with the new password.

The recovery link is valid for a limited time (3 days) and only once. If the “The link has expired” page opens, click “Get a new link”.

Signing in across subdomains

You sign in once — at hi.datool.ru. The max.datool.ru showcase and future showcases pick up the sign-in on their own: on your first visit the browser briefly goes to hi.datool.ru and back, and you are already signed in. No clicks needed.

For this the browser must keep cookies (small service files of the site). If cookies are blocked — in browser settings, by an extension or by a strict private mode — the “Allow cookies to sign in” page opens. Allow cookies for datool.ru and sign in again. You can browse pages without signing in — the “Continue without signing in” button.

The “Sign-in not completed” page saying “The sign-in link has expired or you signed out in another tab” appears if the sign-in took too long to pass over or you signed out in another tab. Click “Sign in again”.

Signing out

1. Open the “Account” menu in the top right corner and choose “Sign out” (inside your account there is also a “Sign out” link at the bottom of the page).
2. The site asks “Are you sure you want to sign out?” — click “Sign out”. The “Back to the account” button cancels.

Signing out takes effect on all subdomains at once: you leave both the account area and the showcases. After signing out the MAX showcase home page opens.
